Android makes it easy to tie every app to your Google account. For a mood diary, that’s exactly what you might not want. This is what a mood tracker that genuinely runs offline looks like on Android: no sign-in, no sync, no background data, and the same app whether you have signal or not.

What to check on the Play Store

  1. Data safety section. Scroll down on the listing. “No data collected” and “No data shared” are what you want to see.
  2. Permissions. A mood tracker needs notifications (for reminders) and, if you attach photos, the camera or gallery. It doesn’t need contacts, location or your account list.
  3. Try airplane mode first. Install, turn off data, open the app. If it works end to end, it’s offline.

How Dawnli works on Android

Dawnli asks for your first name and nothing else. Entries go into a local SQLite database in the app’s private storage, which other apps can’t read. Charts, the calendar and Year in Pixels are drawn on the phone. The app only talks to Google Play when you buy or restore Premium; right now subscriptions aren’t available on Android, so the Android build is simply free.

What you get

  • Unlimited mood logging with five named states
  • 33 activity tags plus 5 custom ones, notes up to 333 characters
  • Last 7 days in the feed, calendar and chart
  • Streaks, a daily reminder, fingerprint or PIN lock
  • Two themes and two fonts
  • Backdating up to 7 days

Android-specific notes

Battery optimisation. Some phones (Xiaomi, Huawei, some Samsungs) kill background apps aggressively and can swallow reminder notifications. If your reminder stops firing, allow Dawnli to run unrestricted in battery settings.

Backups. Android’s automatic app backup is off for Dawnli so your entries don’t silently land in Google’s backup service. That’s deliberate. It also means moving to a new phone needs an export; an optional backup to your own Google Drive is on the way.

Sideloaded copies. You may find Dawnli APKs on mirror sites. Install from Google Play only; mirrors can lag versions or be modified.

Is this the right kind of app for you?

If you want your mood history on several devices, or shared with someone, an app with sync fits better. If you want a quiet daily check-in that stays on one phone and never asks for an account, that’s what Dawnli is for. Same design on iPhone: the iPhone version of this guide.

Dawnli is free on Google Play, works with no internet and no Google sign-in. Download on the App Store or get it on Google Play.
